Durham Police Authority has approved the lease for new office accommodation, which will be based at Sherburn Leisure Centre.
Durham Constabulary confirmed that the move to a more central location will provide greater community engagement for the local beat team.
Mr Peter Thompson, Chair of Durham Police Authority said:
“Durham Police Authority continues to welcome opportunities to improve policing within local communities. Moving the local section office to Sherburn Leisure Centre means that beat officers and PCSOs will be centrally located within the community”.
Chief Inspector Colin Williamson of Durham Constabulary said:
“The move will enable us to be based in premises which are more suitable and also more financially sustainable. We hope it will provide easier access to their neighbourhood policing team for local residents.”
